PENAMPANG: UPKO president, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok remains confident of his chances of retaining the Penampang parliamentary seat for the third term.
“I hear the opposition has been accusing me of sleeping on the job' for the past 28 years but they forgot that I spent two terms as Ranau MP in that period,” he said.
Dompok said support for Barisan is strong in Penampang and it will only get stronger.
“The people can see the developments by Barisan. The NKRA (National Key Results Areas) have been completed and we've even received the approval to build a dual carriageway from Nambangan to Papar en route to Beaufort,” he said.
Dompok, spoke at a press conference on Thursday after opening the Penampang Community College in Taman Malakun, here, where he is in a three-cornered tussle with PKR's Darell Leiking and STAR's Melanie Annol.
The college will start operations in July and will run short courses first. Full time courses will begin at the end of the year.
