KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has received Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin's consent to dissolve the state legislative assembly.

His audience with the ruler took place at Istana Nur Zahirah here around 7.45pm Wednesday.

State speaker Datuk Tengku Putera Tengku Awang will send a notice of dissolution at 9am Thursday.

Earlier in the day, the Mentri Besar said Terengganu would not dissolve the state assembly in line with the dissolution of Parliament as Sultan Mizan was overseas and would return only late Wednesday.

Ahmad earlier chaired the state exco's weekly meeting at Wisma Darul Iman.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak told a press conference televised live over all stations that the King had consented to the dissolution of Parliament on Wednesday.
